Professor Dr. Dimitrios Anastasopoulos is an internationally renowned neurologist with many years of experience in clinical practice, research, and teaching. After completing his medical studies and state examination in Athens, he undertook his specialist training in neurology in Germany, working at the Universities of Ulm and Freiburg, among others. His academic career took him to England (Imperial College London, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery) and Germany before returning to Greece, where he served as Professor of Neurology and Physiology at the University of Ioannina and the University of Athens.Professor Anastasopoulos was appointed Full Professor of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ioannina in 2014 and headed the Department of Neurology there until his retirement in 2018. His academic degrees and appointments followed the rigorous selection procedures of Greek universities, which are based on international standards.Since 2017, Prof. Anastasopoulos has worked in Switzerland as a senior physician and later as chief physician, including at the Kilchberg Neurorehabilitation Center, in various other practices, and currently at our neurology and headache practice in Zurich. He is a board-certified neurologist (FMH) and holds certifications in electroneuromyography, electroencephalography, and cerebrovascular sonography.His scientific focus is on movement disorders (Parkinson's disease, dystonia), balance disorders, and clinical neurophysiology. Prof. Anastasopoulos is the author of over 60 publications in international journals and has received approximately 2,000 citations worldwide.With his broad clinical and academic experience, his international awards and his many years of work in Switzerland, Prof. Anastasopoulos fulfills all the requirements to be recognized as a training center director for neurology.
